A separate film score by Basil Poledouris titled Iron Eagle: Original Motion Picture Score was released on July 9, by Varèse Sarabande.. Apr 18,  · “The Training March” is a jaunty, almost comic-sounding march steeped in the pomp and circumstance of English military tradition, while the “Imperialist Waltz” is a lovely piece of fluff, charming and elegant, with a rich and sumptuous classical sound. I often feel like Farwell to the King is Basil Poledouris’s forgotten.

Farewell To The King is such an oddity. Its so Barry but its obviously Poledouris. It sticks out on Basil's resume because its at once so unlike him and yet some of the best work he ever did.

BASIL POLEDOURIS. Rating **** 1/2. Album running time Performed by THE HUNGARIAN STATE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA FAREWELL TO THE KING. Poledouris at his best for that matter, does the ridiculous, jingoistic "Training March". Despite the slightly disparate nature of some of the cues, this is still a great album.

Apr 21,  · The next Milius collaboration was one of Poledouris’s most melodic scores – Farewell to the King (). It is a sweeping score, akin to John Barry’s lush scores of the same time. For the western miniseries Lonesome Dove (), Poledouris wrote around 4 ½ hours. The miniseries won him an Emmy Award.
